I'm reading Todd Brown's How to Find Your Big Marketing Idea.
At first, I thought it was going to be just another one of those marketing books. You know the ones that tease you with some ideas but never give you all of the pieces to the puzzle.
You have to invest with the guru to get every piece of the puzzle and often that means at the Platinum level at $20k or more.
This book is different.
I'll tell you why in a minute.
In January I spoke at Gary Barnes' Breakthrough Business Mastery Bootcamp in Denver.
A lot of coaches attend Gary's events so I customized my presentation for coaches.
I did a LinkedIn search for "coach" and there were 2.2 million LinkedIn members with the word coach somewhere in their profile.
Today, in the middle of our pandemic, there are 6.3 million coaches on LinkedIn.
That's some healthy competition if you're a coach.
I always ask my clients why they are different than their competitors.
Not better than your competitors, just different.
Most coaches call themselves executive coach, life coach, career coach, personal coach or just coach.
Right now, there are 78,000 executive coaches on LinkedIn.
I ask "who do you work with and how do you help your clients?"
This always helped differentiate my clients from thousands of other coaches.
I thought this was good enough and it did help a lot of my clients grow their business.
Todd Brown's book blew me away.
The Big Marketing Idea takes this to a whole new level.
This would elevate my clients into the top 1% of the 6.3 million coaches.
Instead of thinking about how you are better or different from your competitors, creating your big marketing idea will transform you from a coach into a recognized thought-leader.
In the book, Todd shows a book from Amazon, How to Outsource.
It could be a useful book that teaches you how to outsource to save time and scale your business.
Next, Todd shows The 4 Hour Workweek.
It's also a book that teaches you how to outsource.
Who doesn't know who Tim Ferris is?
The Big Marketing Idea turned a book about outsourcing into a movement that continues today.
So when someone asks "What do you do?" what are you going to say?
"I'm an executive coach who helps executive teams perform effectively"
Or are you going to blow them away with your Big Marketing Idea?
Tomorrow I'll share more ideas from the Big Marketing Idea.
By the way, these are the topics we discuss every week in my Freedom Accelerator Academy.
Every week we have guest experts or I share marketing ideas, strategies, tips and tools that grow your business.
