GOTCHA...
If you've been following me for a while you know I don't do marketing hacks or gimmicks.
Frank Kern calls me "old school, very old school" and I'm okay with that.
You don't run a successful business for over 20 years by tricking people into working with you.
That's why I love Brian Kurtz and his book, Overdeliver.
Brian and I are the same age and we worked in the business world long before Al Gore invented the internet.
How did we do business before the internet?
Relationships.
Brian says, "Not everything we do in marketing (and life) is a revenue event...
...but everything we do is a relationship event."
"Give 100 percent of your effort in all of your relationships - personally, professionally, with friends and family, with colleagues, and with your audience and customers - even when it seems like the other party is making no effort at all.
The best results in any relationship come from consistent, generous effort that demands nothing in return."
I grew up working in my parents' restaurant.
You need good food and good service to be successful in the restaurant business, but relationships are the secret sauce.
People remember you when you focus 100 percent of your effort on serving good food with good service.
They become your family.
Some of our customers ate two meals a day at our restaurant.
You better believe they told their friends about our restaurant because of our relationship.
Brian Kurtz is a giver.
I'm a giver.
We love to help people with no expectations.
On Thursday, October 26th, at 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern, Brian will be our guest at the Mastermind Book Club.
Each month Tom Ruwitch and I lead a discussion of our favorite books.
There's no admission fee to the Mastermind Book Club.
It's our way to thank our friends, colleagues and clients.
Grab a cup of coffee and join us on Thursday.
