Where will it end?
I just finished my morning Peloton ride (#803 if you’re counting) and I asked Alexa to play Steely Dan.
By the way, do you find yourself being polite to Alexa and Siri by thanking them after they fulfill your request?
Back to my story…
Alexa responded:
“Steely Dan has a new album, Northeast Corridor: Steely Dan LIVE but it’s only available on Amazon Music Plus. Would you like to start a 30 day free trial of Amazon Music Plus? At the end of 30 days you will automatically be charged XXX. Would you like to start your 30 day free trial?”
Really?
I’m familiar with upsells but does this cross the line?
A few months ago, I was leaving my grocery store and I noticed a new key duplicating kiosk (in a grocery store?).
You never have enough spare house keys, so I started duplicating ours.
As I was checking out, the kiosk asked me if I wanted additional keys at 50% off.
Another upsell.
Of course I made a few more keys because we can never find our spare house keys.
Do you use upsells in your business?
When someone buys something from you do you offer another product at a discount as they check out?
When people are ordering my Ultimate Guide to LinkedIn for Business Third Edition book, I offer one of my courses at a steep discount for only $37.
I also give them 30 days of free access to my Freedom Accelerator Academy membership site.
This allows the buyer to experience my courses and a twice-monthly mastermind group with a low barrier of entry.
Many continue in my Freedom Accelerator Academy after their 30 day trial.
So, are you ready to try some upsells in your business?
If you have any questions, respond in the comments, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
