I had the honor to contribute to an article in www.thestreet.com written by Susan Mangiero.
The article, Experience + Passion = Success: Why Older Entrepreneurs Are Crushing It, is a compilation of opinions from older entrepreneurs like me.
The essence of the article is that people over 58 are considered too old to be hired by a company but we are thriving as entrepreneurs.
It's no secret that there is age-discrimination in today's job market.
Companies don't want to hire people over 50 for a variety of reasons.
There is a stereotype that older workers are less adept at using modern technology and adapting to new tools or software.
Employers may assume older workers are more prone to health issues, leading to higher absenteeism or increased healthcare costs.
Older candidates often have extensive experience, which can translate to higher salary expectations compared to younger, less experienced workers.
You're not going to believe this but there is a perception that older workers might be set in their ways and resistant to new ideas, practices, or corporate cultures.
Are you saying old people are stuck in their ways?
I'd love to hear what you think.
Hit RETURN and let me know.
