Do I need a LinkedIn Premium account?

I hear that question at least once a week from a client. The answer is…

It depends.

I know that's a cop out but LinkedIn changed the Premium account earlier this year and retired a lot of the tools. You do still need a Premium account if you use LinkedIn on a regular basis.

This week I noticed LinkedIn added some buttons that direct me to my Premium tools. They seem to be trying to show me the value LinkedIn Premium provides. My guess is that they've had a huge decline in LinkedIn Premium memberships and they're trying to retain the remaining members.
